Job Description
The Dean of Students serves as an intricate member of the college's Student Affairs team focused on student access, retention, persistence, and success at each of the college's multi-site locations. This position is a member of the college's management team (i.e., Riverland Council and Strategic Planning), which builds and encouraged effective professional relationships with colleagues and leaders in the community. The incumbent serves as the college Title IX Officer and Deputy Student Affairs Officer, providing leadership, evaluation, and vision to faculty and staff while reinforcing student success and learning; leads and collaborates with faculty and staff to develop and assess co-curricular programs and student services; and, serves as an active participate in college, community, and Minnesota State System meetings, as appropriate. The role suggests or develops policy and procedures when necessary to enhance effective and efficient administration. The Dean of Students also provides leadership and support for other initiatives, including college and system workplans.
Serves as the College's Deputy Affairs Officer
Support the Senior Student Affairs Officer in supervising, leading, and maintaining all assigned student support and guidance functions of the college, including student housing, basic needs, accessibility services, mental health, TRIO-Student Support Services, student life programming and activities, intramural activities and intercollegiate athletics, career services and post-graduate follow-up, student government/organizations/clubs, and student conduct and adjudication.
Provide Leadership and Oversight to Student Support and Retention Initiatives
Collaborate with faculty, staff, and administrators college and division-wide to develop and implement strategic enrollment and retention goals and programs, indicators of effectiveness, and report progress on annual intention targets for improvement.
Serve as the College's Title IX Officer
Manage, Develop, allocate and monitor assigned planning and budgeting processes.
Providing oversight to the Director of Athletics and Student Life, work collaboratively to orient and evaluate probationary and assigned faculty/staff; monitor progress of personal staff development plans; make recommendations on permanent and continuing status.
Provide leadership and support for other initiatives within the vice president's president's and chancellor's annual work plans.
Perform other duties as assigned to ensure the smooth functioning of the department and maintain the reputation of the organization as a viable business partner.
